Limewood Hotel

I have just come back from a weekend at the Limewood Hotel (www.limewoodhotel.co.uk) and I loved it so much I cannot wait to go back!

The hotel is in the New Forest national park, about an hour and a half drive from central London. The setting is beautiful - a Georgian style manor house surrounded by a park and forest for walking and cycling (the hotel provides wellies and mountain bikes).
With only twenty rooms the hotel feels very cozy. There are lovely sitting rooms and a library, all decorated in lime green and with big fire places, as well as a glass covered court yard where you can enjoy lunch or afternoon tea. There is also a great bar for pre-dinner drinks. The first night we ate at the more formal restaurant, the Dining Room, where we tasted beautiful salmon which had been smoked in the hotel's very own smoke house, amazing venison and a delicious apple tarte tatin. The second night we went to the Scullery which serves a slightly more hearty but by no means less good fair. After a nice walk in the New Forest, we relaxed at the Herb House SPA with a big indoor swimming pool, a hydropool and sauna with amazing views into the forest, a steam room and outdoor hut tub. The hotel is well set up for children. They provided us with a baby cot and the cutest little baby bath robe and slippers. The only slight problem was that the baby monitor only worked in parts of the hotel. However, the hotel staff were kind enough to listen to it where we had no reception.
